Tariq Jameel Chaudry, kit no. 113/Liaquat House joined Cadet College Petaro in 1960 and left the college in 1965 after completing his Intermediate.

He was born on 1 March 1947 and got married to Mrs. Nahid on 19 October 1974. They had 3 children - 2 sons and a daughter.

After a prolonged illness, Tariq Jameel died in Lahore on 19 January 2009.

Tariq Jameel was given the nickname of "Pandit" at Petaro for his outstanding performances as a member of the Funkada Drama Society. His performances on the drama stage matched those of Aurangzeb Laghari, 109/L (who attained fame as a PTV artist in later years).

He was also an excellent hockey player, and was the goalkeeper of the College Hockey team.

After leaving Petaro, Tariq Jameel joined West Pakistan UET, Lahore and graduated from there as a civil engineer in 1970. In later years, he completed his M.Sc. in Irrigation Planning and Design from University of Southampton in the UK in 1988 under the Colombo Plan Scholarship Scheme sponsored by the Government of Punjab.

After graduation, he was employed in government departments and private organizations in Pakistan and Kuwait. Starting as an Assistant Engineer, he eventually became the Superintending Engineer in the Irrigation Department of Punjab and was in charge of the Depalpur Canal Circle at Lahore.

His last assignment was as the Chief Engineer of PIDA in Lahore prior to his retirement in 2007.

I had the good fortune to meet him once at Sialkot, when he was present at the gathering of Petarians at Cadet College Sialkot in the year 2002. We would talk on the phone once in a while and he was always very appreciative of having a copy of the Petarian Directory which helped him keep in touch with his old friends.

May Allah have mercy on him and grant them Jannatul Firdaus.
