After leaving Petaro, Z.A. Shah became the first
Petarian to join Pakistan Navy in 1963. He was a
part of the Navy in both the 1965 and the 1971
wars.
Lt.Z.A. Shah, PN also has the distinction of
becoming the first Petarian to be appointed as the
Adjutant of Cadet College Petaro. He served in
this position from 1974 to 1975.
During his naval career, he held four successful
commands at sea, and won four "Professional
Efficiency Shields" during the 1980s. He went for
training to the Royal Navy (UK), at the Joint
Services Staff College (Chaklala), at the Naval
Amphibious Base Coronado (USA) and NDC
(Islamabad).
During the 1970s, he was given the award of
Tamgha-i-Shujaat by the (late) Prime Minister
Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
Prior to his retirement, he was posted as General
Manager (Admin) at the Karachi Shipyard &
Engineering Works.
He retired as a Commodore and has since set up his
own security agency called Tabuk Security.
Cdre.(R) Z.A. Shah is a frequent visitor to
Petaro, and is normally present at most of the
major functions at the college.
He presently has his home at Karachi.
