Khan, kit no.
238/Jinnah House joined Cadet College Petaro in
1961 in 11th Class and left the college in 1963
after completing his Intermediate. He had done his
Matric from Cadet College Hasan Abdal.
He was born on
5 January 1946, and got married in 1972. They have
two daughters.

Zaffar Khan joined the Engineering College of
Peshawar University and graduated as a Mechanical
Engineer in 1967. He had cleared the ISSB, but
chose not to pursure a military career. Instead,
he joined the Esso Pakistan Fertilizer Company
which had its plant at Daharki. Subsequently, when
Esso was renamed Exxon worldwide, the name of the
fertilizer plant was also changed to Exxon
Chemicals. Eventually, Exxon pulled out and the
company was renamed as Engro Chemicals Ltd with a
management buyout.
Zaffar Khan grew rapidly within the Exxon group.
He was posted out to Hong Kong, Houston and
Singapore. When he returned to Pakistan, he was
appointed a Vice President of the company. Within
Engro Chemicals, he then became a Director on the
Board, and later moved to Daharki to head the
company's Ammonia and Urea Complex. During the
mid-1990s, he became President of the Company,
which was the pinnacle in his career with Engro.
After his retirement from Engro, the Govt. of
Pakistan inducted him to become the Chairman of
PTCL. When PTCL was privatized, he moved to become
the Chairman of the Karachi Stock Exchange.
In 2007, the government moved once again, and
appointed him the CEO of PIA.
Zaffar Khan now leads a retired life.
