After passing out from Petaro, he joined the
Pakistan Army in the 16th War Course. He was
commissioned in 1968 and posted to the FF
Regiment. He participated in the 1971 War in the
Rajasthan Sector.
During his military career, he served in various
command, staff and instructional appointments at
various stations - such as command of Armoured
Infantry Battalion, Army School of Mountain
Warfare and Physical Training and as Commander of
the Infantry Brigade at Bannu. He was also an
instructor at the Iraqi School of Armour. He completed
the Army Staff Course in 1981.
He rose up through the ranks to become a
Brigadier. He finally retired in this rank.
At present, he is the General Manager
Administration at Fatima Fertilizer Company Ltd in
Rahim Yar Khan, but the family is settled down in
Rawalpindi.
His younger brother Azmat Azimullah, kit no.
569/Latif is also a Petarian.
