After passing out from Petaro, he joined the
Merchant Navy in 1968. He passed the Master
Mariner (FG) examination in 1975.
Subsequently, he was appointed as Port Captain at
Alexandria in 1979. Four years later, he decided
to leave the Merchant Navy in 1983 and start his
own business.
Since then, he has been running his company in
Karachi under the name of Petaro Products (Pvt)
Ltd., which produces various engineering products.
The company has its own workshop in the SITE area
of Karachi.
He has been active with the Petarian activities
over the years, and has been an Elected Member of
the Petarian Association.
Capt. Wasim is the elder brother of
Saiyid Muhammad Kalim, kit no. 608/A.
