Zubair was an excellent hockey player, and became
the Captain of the College Hockey team in 1968-69
and was a member of the
Famous Forties in 1967 and 1968.
He was also known for his tilawat-e-Qur'an, which
he used to recite during the Assembly.
He was also the Section Leader of Latif House in
12th Class.
After leaving Petaro, Zubair got admission to UET
Lahore, from where he obtained his bachelor's
degree in Electrical Engineering in 1974. He
played hockey on behalf of UET as well.
During this period, he was selected to become a
member of the Pakistan Junior Hockey Contingent in
1973. He got an opportunity to play hockey with
the members of the Pakistan team.
Upon graduation from UET, he joined CDA (Capital
Development Authority), and took an early
retirement from there while he was a Deputy
Director. He then went on into private business.
In 1993, he also went to Saudi Arabia to work
there as manager of a mechanical engineering
department in a private company Adwan. He
performed Hajj the same year. During that short
stay, he met with an accident and lost his younger
son Usman who is buried in Madinah.
Upon his return, he joined Sachal Engineering
Works (Pvt) Ltd where he works as a General
Manager for Construction.
Zubair lives in Islamabad.
