Rear Admiral(R) Shahid Farooq, kit no. 578/Jinnah House joined Cadet College Petaro in 1964 in 11th class and left the college in 1966 after completing his Intermediate.

He was born on 28 March 1949, and got married to Mrs. Sonia on 20 April 1977. They have three children - Nigham, Ali and Shiza.

Shahid Farooq obtained his B.E. Electrical Engineering from the Pakistan Navy Engineering College. He also did his Masters in Strategic Studies in later years.

He joined the Navy and eventually retired as a Rear Admiral. During his navy career, he held several key appointments. He was Managing Director of PN Dockyard, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Materials), and Chairman of National Telecom Corporation (NTC).

After his retirement, he was taken on as an Honorary Consultant at the Bahria University, and was inducted into the Engineering Development Board as a Member.

At present, he is the Chairman of Sky Telecom.

Admiral Shahid is always a pleasure to be with. He is a very jolly person and always full of jokes with wisdom.
