During his last year at Petaro, Arbab Ghulam Rahim
was appointed the JUO of
Ayub House.
After leaving Petaro, Arbab Ghulam Rahim decided
to study medicine, and graduated as a doctor from
the Sindh Medical College, Karachi. However,
subsequent to his graduation, he chose to go into
politics and has remained a prominent politician
in the province of Sindh. He is a member of the
Pakistan Muslim League. His family has been in
politics for decades. He started his political
career when he was in the fourth year of his
university education at SMC, when he was elected
as Chairman of Zila Council for Mirpurkhas in 1981
under the regime of Gen. Ziaul Haq.
He won elections as a Member of National Assembly
(MNA) four times, and as Member of the Provincial
Assembly (MPA) from his constituency in Mirpurkhas Dist.
several times. In the 2002 elections, he won his
seat from PS-60 constituency and was appointed a
minister in the Sindh government
In 2004, the Chief Minister Sindh Ali Mohammad
Mahar resigned, and Dr. Arbab was elected by the
Sindh Provincial Assembly as the Chief Minister of
Sindh. He held that position until the end of 2007
when new elections were held. Although the
Pakistan Muslim League (Q) lost the 2008
elections, Dr. Arbab won his own seat as an MPA.
During his tenure as Chief Minister, Dr. Arbab was
instrumental in getting many projects approved for
Cadet College Petaro.
Dr. Arbab played a key role in inviting President
Musharraf as the chief guest during the Golden
Jubilee celebrations at Cadet College Petaro. On
