Tariq Ghori was the JUO of Iqbal House in 1978-79.
He was also the College Captain of the Cricket
Team and a member of the College Basketball Team.
He was also the President of the Photography Club.
After leaving Petaro in 1979, he joined Dow Medical
College, and graduated with an MBBS degree in
1984. However, instead of pursuing his career as a
medical doctor, Tariq chose to go into business.
He thus obtained a diploma in Human Resources
Management and in Marketing Communications from
the University College Los Angeles in USA.
After being a Director of the MATCO Group of
Companies which are involved in rice export and
other businesses, Dr. Tariq Ghori is now the
Director of the group in charge of marketing and sales. He has
been instrumental in branddevelopment of the Falak Basmati Rice
and positioning it in 30 countries. He is a regular participant
at world famous food exhibitions like SIAL in France, ANGUA in
Germany and the Fancy Food Show in NY.
He is a founding member of the Rice Exporters Association
of Pakistan (REAP) and is a member of its Executive Committee.
He has been the President of the Pakistan Basmati Rice Promotion
Committee of REAP.
During the mid-1990s, he also held an official
assignment as Special Assistant to the Chief
Minister Sindh for Implementation and Monitoring
of the Chief Minister's Directives.
Dr. Tariq Ghori has been an active member of the
Petarian Association. He was elected to the
Managing Committee several times and also held the
position of Joint Secretary Sports.
