Arshad was a member of the College Hockey team,
and also of the Social Welfare Society.
After leaving Petaro, he initially qualified as a
Chartered Accountant from the Institute of
Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Cost &
Management Accountants. He also pursued a degree
in Law and obtained his LL.B. in 1988.
He worked with
reputable chartered accountancy firms like Hyder
Bhimji & Co., and Shakir & Co. Chartered
Accountants in Karachi. Subsequently, he joined
Sirajul Haque & Company as a Tax Consultant.
Since 1989, he had
been practicing law with a concentration on
income-tax on Appellate Tribunals and in the High
Court.
He remained a Member
of the Sindh High Court Bar Association and the
Income Tax Bar Association.
In 2007, he was
appointed as a Judge of the Sindh High Court.
However, within weeks of his becoming a High Court
judge, Arshad chose to refuse taking a second oath
on the PCO passed by General Musharraf in November
2007.
It was only in the
early part of 2009 when he was called back to the
Sindh High Court as a Judge once again upon the
revival of the constitution and the functioning of
the courts under the 1973 Constitution. |
