Jamshed was one of the large contingent of new
cadets that joined in 11th class in 1967 when
Iqbal House was created. He was generally a very
quiet person, and very likeable. He belonged to my
batch.
After leaving
Petaro, he joined Pakistan Army and spent his
entire career there. He retired as a major. After
his retirement, he worked with the Army Welfare
Trust until his very last days.
Upon my return to
Pakistan in 1995, he was one of the few batch
mates that I called over the phone. He did not
talk much, and said that we will meet one day.
Little did I know that he was already suffering
from Leukemia, and he did not volunteer that
information. We never met again.
A few days after he
died, I called his home again hoping to invite him
for a dinner. His son answered and told me that
his father had passed away. I cannot express the
level of shock I felt. The man had taken it so
bravely, and did not try to share his pains with
others.
May Allah grant him
the best place in Jannatul Firdaus. |
