Vice
Admiral
Asad Qureshi was the twenty eighth
Chairman Board of Governors of Cadet College Petaro
from 2004-2006.
He is
married and blessed with one son and two daughters.
He
retired from the Pakistan Navy as Vice Admiral.

Asad
Qureshi joined Pakistan Navy in 1968 and was
commissioned in the Operations Branch in 1970. He
participated in the 1971 Indo-Pak war on board PNS
Jahangir.
He is
a graduate of Pakistan Navy Staff College Karachi and
holds an MSc degree from Quaid-e-Azam University in War
Studies. He also completed the War Course from NDC
Islamabad, and qualified a communications course from
the UK
During
the course of his naval career, he served on various
billets and qualified as Surface Warfare Officer from
the USA in 1979. He commanded the destroyers PNS a
brooke class destroyer and was an executive officer on
board a minesweeper and a destroyer. He also commanded
the Destroyer Squadrons 18 and 25.
His on
shore appointments included Director of Projects, Deputy
Naval Secretary, Deputy Commandant Pakistan Navy War
College Lahore, and Chief Staff Officer to the COMKAR.
He also served as Head of the Pakistan Mutual Group in
the Sultanate of Oman, as Director General of Pakistan
Maritime Security Agency, and Director General
Operations of Port Qasim Authority.
During
2004-2006, he served as and Commander Karachi (COMKAR),
and was then held to the position of Chairman Port Qasim
Authority from 2006-2007 while he was still in the
service of the Navy. He held this position of Chairman
PQA once again later on after his retirement from the
Navy from 2009-2010.
In recognition to his
meritorious services, the admiral has received many
awards. He has been decorated with Sitara-e-Imtiaz
(Military) and Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military).
Asad Qureshi was promoted
to the rank of Vice Admiral in August 2005.
While he was Commander
Karachi (COMKAR) during 2007-2008, he was also the
Chairman of Board of Governors of
Cadet College Petaro.
After his retirement from
the Navy in 2008, he became the DG Ports and Shipping.
He also held the additional charge of Chairman Karachi
Port Trust (KPT) from 2008-2009. He then joined the
Bahria Foundation, and is the Deputy Managing Director
(South) as well as a Member of the Board of Directors of
the Foundation.
During 2004-2005, he was
also the President of the Karachi Golf Club.
