Mufti Sahib hails originally from East Pakistan
which is now Bangladesh. After the 1971, he chose
to move to Pakistan from Bangladesh since he
strongly believed that Pakistan stood for Muslim
nationhood and was created as a homeland for the
Muslims of the sub-continent. He has been settled
in this country ever since.
He had completed his
Matric (SSC) from Rajshahi Board, East Pakistan in
1966, and Inter (HSSC) from the same Board in
1969. Due to the war, his college studies were
disrupted which he then resumed later on at
Karachi. He completed his B.A.(Hons) from
Karachi University in 1975, and M.A. in
Linguistics in 1979 also from Karachi University.
The bulk of his
career has been at Cadet College Petaro which he
joined at the beginning of 1986.
At Petaro, Mufti
Sahib has been the Patron of
The Cadet magazine
from 2003 to 2008. He was instrumental in getting
the cadets to put the magazine together.
I had a great opportunity to spend some quality
time with Mufti Sahib when he was putting together
the magazine just in time for the Golden Jubilee
celebrations that were held in February 2007. He
came and spent a week in Islamabad in January
operating from my office to collate all the
articles, photographs etc, while he was
coordinating with the designer and printer.
After his retirement
from the college in February 2010, Mufti Sahib now
plans to move back to Bangladesh to be closer to
his relatives. |
