b)   Qualification:         Either passed Class VII or appearing in Class VII Annual Examination 2012

‘O’ Level Cambridge System

(iii)  Class O-1

Eligibility

a)   Age:                  12 to 14 years as on 31 March 2012

b)   Qualification:     Either passed Class VII or appearing in Class VII Annual Examination 2012 from Cambridge System Schools only) (Cambridge School System Syllabus)

c)   Subject for test:  Maths, English, General Science

PRINCIPAL

Admissions to the College are restricted to Class VII and VIII (Matric system or O Levels) for those boys whose parents are domiciled in the province of Sindh according to Division-wise quota, based on the population and who are between 12 to 14 ½ years of age on March 31st of the Admissions Year. Some seats are reserved for Defence personnel, Federal government nominees belonging to backward areas, and for sons of Life Members of the Petarian Association. 

From 2011 onwards, the college has also started a program for "O" and "A" Levels education in affiliation with the University of Cambridge.

Selection is made through a selection procedure comprising (i) Written test in English, Maths and Urdu/Sindhi, (ii) Interviews (viva voce), and finally (iii) a Medical Test. Written tests are normally held at Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshsh, Dadu, Larkana and Sukkur. Candidates who qualify  through a process of all these tests are considered for selection on merit within the limitations of the quota system being followed at present.

The college also has some seats for students on a self-finance basis. In order to qualify for this scheme, the candidate must have passed the entry tests, though he may not have been selected on the merit list.

Every year, the college does admit very few students to class IX and XI as well. The number admitted depends on the vacancies created by some students leaving the college after 8th class or Matric. Please contact the Principal to find out the status on these seats.

Desirous candidates can apply on the prescribed form contained in the College Prospectus, obtainable against crossed postal orders of Rs. 500 (favouring the Principal Cadet College Petaro) by post or in person. The college advertises the admissions schedule in national newspapers every year. Normally there is a last date for submission of completed Application Forms without late fee, and a last date for submission of applications with a penalty.
