Shafique-ur Rehman Channa - 1994

Shafique-ur-Rehman Channa, kit no. 20/Liaquat House joined Cadet College Petaro in 1957 in the first batch at Mirpurkhas in Jinnah House, and left the college in 1962 after completing his Intermediate.

He was born on 12 September 1942 at Sehwan Sharif, and got married to Mrs. Najma on 4 July 1970 at Hyderabad. They have four children - Sheeraz Channa, Samreen, Ambreen, and Sarfaraz. His wife Mrs. Najma is the younger sister of Prof. R.S. Channa.

Shafiq Channa expired on 11 June 1994 at Hyderabad of kidney failure.

Shafiq Channa started his early education at Sehwan Sharif, and the family moved to Hyderabad when he was in 2nd class. They settled down in Resham Gali. He then studied at Mardana Training College until 7th class and then joined Govt. Cadet College Mirpurkhas (later known as Cadet College Petaro) in 8th class in 1957.

After passing out from Petaro, Shafiq Channa joined Tandojam Agriculture University from where he did his bachelors. He then went on to get his M.A. Economics from Sindh University in 1968.

Soon after his graduation, he joined the newly created Population Welfare Division at Hyderabad. At that time, it was a semi-governmental institution. Later on it became a division of the federal government.

His last position was of Senior Instructor in Grade 19 (move over). Unfortunately, he did not live to go beyond this, and died at a very young age of 51.  He had been suffering from diabetes and was on dialysis. Eventually, his kidneys failed and he left this world.

His eldest son Sheeraz is now working as a civil engineer at the Buildings Department of Cadet College Petaro. Both of his daughters are married and the younger son Sarfaraz is a Telecom Engineer.

May Allah grant him jannatul firdaus.
