Khalid Iqbal was a celebrity at Petaro. He was
awarded the Badge of
Honour in 1964 and the
Stick of Honour
in 1966. He was the Captain of the College
Football team and a
member of the College Athletics and the College
Hockey teams. He was also the Carrom Champion in
1965 and 1966.
At the same time, he excelled in academics and
obtained the Second Position
in Hyderabad Board in Intermediate. He was
awarded the Principal's Silver Medal for this
performance.
After leaving Petaro, he secured Second Position
in Karachi University in M.A. Economics.
He built his career on flying and has been a pilot
in PIA throughout. He was graded as no. 1 at the
PIA Flying Academy and was the first pilot to get
command of B-747 from Petaro.
During the East Pakistan crisis in 1970, Khalid
Iqbal was a key pilot in transporting of goods and
passengers between the two parts. He was also a
VVIP Pilot on B-707 during this period. As a
result of his services, he was awarded
Tamgha-e-Quaid-e-Azam.
