 After
leaving Petaro in 1968, he completed his BSc
(Hons) from Karachi University. He then
moved to the USA and spent most of his years there
until shortly before his death.
During his initial
years in the USA, Riaz completed his degree in
Actuarial Sciences and an MSc in Computer Science.
He worked as an actuary. His last position
was of Vice President in Didwell Corporation,
where he was highly regarded.
Riaz married rather
late in life on 8 February 2001 to Roohi Tabassum.
Unfortunately, the marriage did not work out and
it led to a divorce 5 years later. They did not
have any children. (The photograph at the right
was taken at the time of his wedding in 2001).
In 1984, Riaz met
with a very severe road accident in the USA. He
was injured in the head and other parts of the
body. He underwent surgery of the head. Despite
extensive treatment, he continued to have medical
problems as a result until the end of his life.
In later years, he
developed problems due to diabetes and
hypertension. Towards the end of his life, he
returned to Karachi to be with his family.
He went into a coma and remained in that condition
for 20 days before he expired. May Allah grant him
jannatul firdaus.

sisters Afshan Qamar is married to Petarian
Naeem Hassan,
kit no. N-51/Liaquat. Hasan Raza,
548/Liaquat is also his first cousin. |
