He was son of lawyer Khan Kifayatullah Khan who
was from Lucknow. Rehmatullah Khan was known at
home as Gohar. His family was very close to the
family of
Prof. Ch. Saeed Ahmed.
After passing out from Petaro, Rehmatullah Khan joined the
Pakistan Air Force in 1969 and was commissioned in
1971 as Pilot Officer in the GD(P) Branch.
He served in different fighter squadrons as
fighter pilot after completing training. He was
also an instructor at FLS Iraq and commanded one
of the fighter squadrons. He qualified from the
Army Staff College in 1989.
Amongst his appointments, he was the Director of
Flight Safety at AHQ, Air Attaché at the Pakistan
Embassy in China, DD (Air) at Joint Services HQ,
and Commander of PAF Base at Lower Topa.
He retired from the Air Force as an Air Commodore.
He established his
company of Nextech Soft in Rawalpindi and was its
Managing Director.

Rehmatullah Khan was shot dead by an unknown
assailant on the night of 2 December 2011 in his
Honda car which was parked outside Rose Garden of
Chaklala Scheme III in Rawalpindi. He was shot in
his neck from the right side by the assailant who
was sitting in the back seat of the car.
