Mukhtar is my batch mate (1964-1969), and he is
one of the most respected and responsible of
Petarians.
During his last year at Petaro, he was appointed
the JUO of Qasim House. He was also a member of
the Famous Forties that year
and a member of the Code of Honour Committee.
He was in the college Athletics team, Basketball
team and Gymnastics teams. He also holds a colour
in Athletics and Gymnastics. He won the first
position in cross country run. In athletics, he
was famous for the 1 mile run, 400m race and 200m
relay.
After passing out from Petaro, he joined the
Pakistan Army in the 45th Long Course.
He was commissioned as an officer in 1971 the
Corps of Artillery.
He participated in
the 1971 India-Pakistan war in the Chhamb sector.
He completed the
Staff Course at Quetta in 1979 and the Technical
Staff Course at College of EME, Quetta in 1980. He
also participated in Foreign Language and Staff
Course in Indonesia in 1982-83. He completed the
Armed Forces War Course at NDC in 1992-93.
During his military career, he rose up through the
ranks to become a Brigadier. He finally retired in
this rank after 32 years of service in 2003.
His last posting was as Station Commander,
Karachi. Prior to that, he was the Commandant,
School of Military Intelligence at Murree.
He served in all the provinces in different
capacities during his career.
After his retirement, he joined Sui Southern Gas
Company in Karachi as the General Manager
for Security and Administration.
Mukhtar has served the Petarian Association,
Karachi for several years on different
Managing
Committees. He has held the posts of
Vice-President and Member.
