Gopi Chand Oad - 1969

Gopi Chand Oad, kit no. 523/Iqbal House joined Cadet College Petaro in 1964 in Liaquat House and moved to Iqbal House in 1966. He left the college in 1969 after completing his Intermediate.

He was born on 15 December 1951 and got married to Mrs. Kamla. They have 1 son, Kanwal Kumar.

Gopi died on 20 December 1995 at Hyderabad due to heart and drug problems.

Gopi was my batch mate (1964-1969). He was one of the good students in our batch.

Gopi was the son of Nariandas Oad, who retired as Deputy Collector and Judicial Magistrate. He was one of the 12 brothers and 6 sisters. His other real elder brother was the late Nawal Rai Oad 368/Ayub, while Arjandas Oad 76/Ayub,  Dr. Ramchand Oad 374/Ayub and Sirichand Oad 524/Iqbal were his step brothers.  Sirichand was also my batchmate.

After leaving Petaro, Gopi joined NED Engineering College, and graduated as a Civil Engineer in 1974. He then joined the Pakistan PWD as an engineer.

Gopi started to have medical problems as far back as the mid-1970s. Over time, this eventually took a toll on his life. He is buried at the ancestral graveyard in Kandiaro near the graves of his father and grandfather and next to his brother Arjandas.

His son Kanwal graduated with a B.Com. and M.Com. degrees and works as an Accounts Officer in the AGPR, Karachi office.
