Pappoo was a star cricketer at Petaro. He was a
member of the College Cricket Team. He was also the Captain of
Liaquat House Cricket team. He participated in ICCST in 1967, 1968 and 1969, and is listed as
being amongst the
Famous Forties. He was also granted the College Colour in Cricket.
After leaving Petaro, Pappoo got his B.Com. degree
from Karachi University in 1973. His career has been
primarily in the banking sector.
His first job was with with National Bank of Oman from 1976-1981,
followed by Emirates Bank up to 1986. He
then joined the RDFC (Regional Development Finance Corporation),
Islamabad as 2nd Officer and In Charge of the Treasury. In 1998,
he opted to take the golden handshake when the government
decided to merge it with NDFC.
For the next one year, he tried his luck with his own trading
and real estate business. He then joined Medishield Hospital in 1999
as Manager Marketing and Public Relations.
Subsequently, he worked as Bursar of Cadet College
Sanghar (2001-2002), Office Superintendent /
Accountant at ASF Public School Karachi
(2002-2003), Accountant at Army Public School
(2003-2004), Manager at Prudential
Investment Bank (2004-2005), Assistant Manager HR at Gestetner Karachi
(2005-2007). At present, he is employed with Hamdard
University in Karachi in the Administration and Public Relations
department as an Accountant.
Pappoo has been involved in Petarian activities in
Karachi and Islamabad for over two decades. He is
one of the founding members of the Petarian
Association and was a member of the first elected
Managing Committee of 1982-1983. He has
been on the Managing
Committee of the Petarian Association several
times since.
Keeping up with his social activities, he has been
a member of a number of friendship associations.
He is a Life Member of the DJarians (alumni body
of DJ Science College). He is a member of their
Executive Committee as well for 2009-2010. He has
been a member of the Pak-Turk Friendship Society,
Pak-Uzbek Friendship Society and the Sir Syed
Memorial Society.
He is proficient in Bengali, Arabic and Punjabi in
addition to his native Urdu and the official
English languages.
Pappoo is a very simple
and straight-forward person, and extremely loving. He is
always available for service to Petarians, and makes
himself available for every Petarian function. It is a
pleasure to have been associated with Pappoo. |
