Waheed was born into
a famous political and religious family of Lahore.
His father was Allama Inayatullah Khan Mashriqi,
who was renowned for leading the Khaksar Movement
against the British colonization of India. Allama
Mashriqi was an activist and was imprisoned
several times for his revolutionary ideas and
activities.
Waheed was the
second son from Allama Mashriqi's second wife
Saeeda Begum. He was inspired by his father's
soldierly life and political ideas.
He was quite an activist even during Petaro days,
and was a close friend of
Asif Ali Zardari,
991/J. He is famous for having led the group of
students who took over the Principal's office at
Petaro in 1972 on the day
Cdr. Firoz Shah
was removed from the position of Principal. Waheed
was said to have declared himself as the Principal
for the day and sat in the Principal's chair.
After leaving Petaro, he joined Pakistan Customs
department. |
