Imdad was the
College Captain of Tennis
Team and Senior Section Leader of Iqbal House.
Imdad joined
Pakistan Navy soon after passing out from Petaro
in 1976 and obtained his degree in Mechanical
Engineering from the Pakistan Navy Engineering
College (affiliated to NED University) in 1980. In
later years, he obtained a Masters degree in
Machine Design from Armed Forces University (Helmut
Schmidt Universitat) at Hamburg, Germany.
He was commissioned
as an officer in 1980 soon after his graduation.
He sailed as a Chief Engineer until 1996.
Subsequently, he was given responsibility for
project management in general and planning /
scheduling in particular for a submarine
construction program for 5 years. He
was also responsible for all levels of maintenance
of surface vessels for 3 years.
He also served in
the Ministry of Defence Production to coordinate
local development of vessels, equipment and parts.
He then worked at the Karachi Port Trust as Chief
Mechanical and Electrical Engineer.
On the academic
front, he taught for two years at the Pakistan
Naval Engineering College, and was then also
appointed the Commandant / Principal of the
College as well.
He completed the
National Defence College Course where his thesis
was on "Solar Thermal Power Generation for
Pakistan".
Imdad was promoted
to the rank of a Rear Admiral in the Navy in March
2011. He holds the rank of ACNS (Maintenance).
He is a thorough
gentleman and a sheer pleasure to be with. It is
an honour for me to have made his acquaintance.
