Muhammad Bin Saeed was the youngest among his
brothers. He was the younger brother of Iftekhar
Saeed Alavi, kit no. 40. At the time of his
birth, he was named Arshad by his eldest sister,
but was given the name Muhammad Bin Saeed at the
time of his aqiqa. However, at home the family
members continued to call him Arshad or Arshee.
As per family
tradition, he was initiated into the reading of
the Qur'an at the age of 4 years and 4 months. He
started his formal schooling at St. Michael
Convent School, Mirpurkhas and then moved on to
Shah Waliullah High School, Mirpurkhas where his
elder brothers were studying. In 1974, he joined
Cadet College Petaro.
Although he wanted
to complete his Intermediate from Petaro, he was
forced to leave the college due to the accidental
death of his elder brother Ahmed Saeed Alavi in
1977. He moved to Karachi to be close to his
mother who was in a state of depression. He
joined Habib Boys Public College, Karachi and
completed his Intermediate from there. He
then went on to do his B.Com. and B.A. from the
same college.
At Habib Public, he
took active part in swimming and hockey, and was a
member of his college hockey team. He participated
as a part of his college hockey team at Lahore in
1980 as well. It may be noted that his father was
a famous hockey player and athlete - being a part
of the UP Police hockey team, and marathon race
champion of UP (India).
Muhammad Bin Saeed
started his professional career as a banker.
However, he did not last long in the banking
industry, and moved on to join Towellers Ltd.
which is a textile unit. Over the years, he became
the factory manager. He held this position at the
time of his death.
During the 2004
Petarian Convention, he participated actively, and
provided giveaways as his contribution to
Petarians.
He had also acquired
Canadian nationality, but chose to remain in
Karachi.
On 13 September
2006, he got the news that his elder brother
Iftekhar Saeed Alavi had become a grandfather, and
called him to congratulate him that morning.
Barely within an hour of the call, Muhammad Bin
Saeed was shot dead by car snatchers. It is
believed that it could have been a targetted
killing as well, although the motives are unknown.
He was buried the same day at the Nazimabad
graveyard next to his father.
May Allah have mercy
on his soul and grant him jannatul firdaus
