Raheel was a very
good student at Petaro. He obtained A grades
throughout in Matric and Intermediate. He was very
active with the different clubs at Petaro, being
the President of the Science Modelling Club,
Electrical Engineering and Radio Club, and the
Artisans Club. He was also a member of the
Aeromodelling, Music and Photography clubs.
He was good at
shooting and was a member of the College Shooting
Team. He represented the college at the All
Pakistan National Shooting Championship in 1982 at
Karachi and won the Gold Medal for overall best
performance. He also won the National Cadet Corps
Shooting Competition for G3 Rifle Target Shooting
in 1981-82.
He was appointed the
Section Leader and Senior Section Leader in 11th
and 12th Classes at Petaro.
After leaving
Petaro, he
initially joined Dawood Engineering College and
then moved on to Mehran University of Engineering
and Technology from where he graduated as an
Electronics Engineer in 1988.
His first job was at
National Refinery, Karachi as an Instrument &
Control Engineer from 1989 to 1992. He then
worked with McDermott International Inc in Dubai
as Production Engineer from1992 to 1995 and
returned to National Refinery once again from 1995
to 1999, when he left Pakistan to work primarily
in the Gulf countries.
He then worked with
Fujairah National Refinery from 1999 to 2001 as a
Lead Engineer, and with Zakum Development Co
(ZADCO) Abu Dhabi as Senior Project Engineer from
2001 to 2002. He Joined Clough Engineering (Perth,
Australia) for a year in 2002-2003 and moved to
Iran to work with ENI of Italy as Instrumentation
and Automation Superintendent at South Pars from
2004 to 2007.
Since then (i.e.
2007), Raheel has been living in Qatar, working
for Dolphin Energy Ltd as Offshore Maintenance
Superintendent.
Raheel has been involved with the Petarian Association
in its initial years. He was been on the
Managing Committee
of the Association in 1985 as Joint Secretary
General.
Raheel got married
into a family of Petarians. Two of his wife's
brothers are Petarians - Dr. Salman Abbasey 7767/J
and Farhan Abbasey 8485/J. And his wife's elder
sister also got married to a Petarian -
Khalid Asadullah
Khan 975/L.
It has been an honour for me to have known Raheel for
the past few years. He is a thorough gentleman. |
