Cdr. Khawar Zaman, PN

Cdr. Khawar Zaman, PN - Shaheed, kit no. N-46/Jinnah House joined Cadet College Petaro in 1975 as an N Cadet in 11th Class and left the college in 1977 after completing his Intermediate.

He was born on 1 October 1959 and was married to Mrs. Zeba and they have three children.

He obtained his shahadat on 29 October 1999 at Ormara when the PC-3 Orion Naval Aircraft which he was commanding was lost due to an accident while carrying out routine exercises in own coastal waters.

وَلا تَقُولُوا لِمَنْ يُقْتَلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَمْوَاتٌ بَلْ أَحْيَاءٌ وَلَكِنْ لا تَشْعُرُونَ
And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah: "They are dead." Nay, they are living, though you perceive (it) not. [Al-Qur'an 2.154]

Khawar was an excellent athlete and hockey player and an outstanding sportsman at Petaro.

During his career in the Navy, he was a member of the Navy-under 21 hockey team as well.

His elder brothers are CaptPN(R) Fariduz Zaman, 6941/Iqbal and Dr. Waqaruz Zaman, 6942/Qasim, and his younger brother is Ahmed Jawwad, 7643/Jinnah.

May Allah accept his shahadat and grant him the choicest place in Jannatul Firdaus.
