Khalid was an appointment holder at Petaro. He was
a Section Leader in Class 11 and was appointed the
JUO of Jinnah House in
12th class. He was good in sports, and was a
member of the house cricket and volleyball teams.
He wrote the house wallpapers and was Editor of
the Sindhi magazine. He used to be actively
involved in the Latif Day celebrations at Petaro
each year.
After leaving Petaro, he graduated as an
Electronics Engineer from Mehran University for
Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro in 1993.
Later on, he also did a diploma in "Management of
Technical Organization" from Center for Advanced
Studies in Engineering (CASE), Islamabad.
His career has been in the field of
telecommunications throughout. He started out with
Millicom International (Pakcom Ltd) from 1993-1996
for installation, testing and commissioning of
Radio Base Stations (RBS) of AMPS systems, site
acquisitions, site surveys and negotiations with
sub-contractors.
In 1996, he joined Etisalat in Abu Dhabi and
worked with them until 2004 for the implementation
of GSM projects in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the
Western Region of UAE.
Then in December 2004, he was transferred by Etisalat
to Saudi Arabia to establish
a new GSM mobile company there called Mobily. He was
given the important task of being the Head of the
BSS rollout engineering team for Eastern Region of Saudi
Arabia. Based on his achievements and performance throughout
the BSS Roll-out in Saudi Arabia, in March 2007 he was given
the position of Chief Engineer in Mobily, Saudi Arabia.
With this great achievement of a greenfield
project implementation and management, Khalid got an opportunity
to join Emirates Integrated Telecommunication
Company (DU) in UAE as Director for the Dubai
Region Mobile Access Implementation and Roll-out
Khalid has done extremely well for himself and we
hope and pray for his success to rise to the top.
He has also been a very active Petarian among the
alumni. He became very active with the
Petarian Association of Saudi
Arabia (PASA) during his year stay there, and
was the President of PASA
during 2006-2008.
When he moved back to UAE in 2008, he successfully
organized the Petarians there, and established the
Petarian Association of UAE
(PAUAE). He was elected the first President of
PAUAE.
Khalid has also been very active in promoting the
establishment of a Global Petarians Association
through a restructuring of Petarian Association in
Pakistan.
Khalid is a very organized person and extends his
love and regard for every Petarian in a way that
you immediately fall in love with him. He has the
true spirit of being a Petarian. It is an honour
and a pleasure to have known Khalid over these
years. |
