After completing his
Matric from Central Govt Model School in
Rawalpindi, he moved to Karachi and did his
Intermediate from Habib Public School in 1969 on board PNS Babur.
He has had a very
rich career. He joined the Pakistan Navy in
1969 as a cadet. Having obtained a B.Sc. degree
from the Naval Academy in 1972, he was then
commissioned as an officer in June of the same year. He participated in
the 1971 War as a Midshipman.
Later on during his
career, he attended the Naval Intelligence course
in USA in 1986. During the following year
(1987-88), he attended the Naval Staff Course at
the PN Staff College, Karachi which led to a
B.Sc.(Hons.) degree granted by Karachi University.

Principal/Commandant, Cadet College Petaro
S.Q. Raza was the
first officer of the Pakistan Navy from the
Operations Branch to take on the charge as
Principal and Commandant of Cadet College Petaro.
Prior to him, all officers used to be from the
Education Branch. He was chosen for this position
due to his performance as Commandant of PNS
Rahnuma which is a Junior Cadet College.
One of the
monumental achievements of his period is the
construction of the Sports Pavilion which was
completed in less than one year (between two
Parents' Day functions). The other great
construction projects during his period were the
new Cadets' Mess, Language Laboratory, and the
Computer Laboratory. He also got the residential
quarters of employees renovated and started a Fair
Price Shop for employees and cadets. Another great
achievement was taking back the College Canteen
from the local waderas.
Cdre. S.Q. Raza has
been a sportsman. His favourite sports are
cricket, hockey, squash and walking.
He is a good speaker
and has a very good command over English and Urdu.
After leaving
Petaro, he was appointed the Director General of
the Marine Fisheries Dept. He was also given the
position of Principal of Fisheries Training
Centre.
Cdre.(R) S.Q. Raza
left Marine Fisheries Dept. in 2007 and became the
Director General of Bahria Travels.
