Prof. Syed Atiq
Ahmed Jilani joined Cadet College Petaro in 1982 to
teach Urdu and left in 1986.
He was born on 13 January 1956, and got married to
Mrs. Sadia on 1 November 1986. They have three
children - Hammad, Haseeba and Fatima.

Mr. Atiq Jilani obtained his B.A. in Urdu
Literature in 1975 and his M.A. in Urdu Literature
in 1980 from Sindh University.
His first job was as a teacher of Urdu language at
Cosmopolitan High School, Hyderabad from 1980 to
1982. He then got an opportunity to join Cadet
College Petaro as a Lecturer at the Urdu
Department in 1982. He remained at Petaro in
that position until 1986.
During his stay at Petaro, he was also appointed
the Assistant House Master of Ayub House and the
Secretary of the Staff Club for the entire four
years that he remained there.
After leaving Petaro in 1986, he joined Sindh
University as a Lecturer. At present he is an Assistant
Professor at the Dept. of Urdu at Sindh
University.
He is now a well known poet of Urdu language as
well.
He presented a paper on "Research
Importance of Literary Magazines of Urdu" at
the Shaikh Ayaz International Conference on
Language and Literature at Sindh University in
January 2007.
