The late Lt.Cdr.(R) Mahfooz Hasan Taqvi (known at Petaro as M.H. Taqvi) was professor of Mathematics at Petaro. He joined the college in 1964 and left in 1978.

He was born on 30 June 1918. He had five children. Taqvi Sahib died at Karachi in the year 2000 of old age illnesses.

He was my first Mathematics teacher in 9th class at Petaro. Although very loud in his expression, the late Taqvi Sahib was one of the most loving creatures of God that I have ever met. He always had utmost regard for me, treating me like his own son.

However, Taqvi Sahib was not a very innovative person. He would rather echo thoughts that were in harmony with his own rather than expressing his thoughts in his own words.

The following autograph was written by Taqvi Sahib after he glanced through my autograph book and saw what Toor Sahib had written. Those thoughts resonated with his own, and Taqvi Sahib immediately wrote the same thoughts down with a small change.

Indeed, Taqvi Sahib was a very sincere person himself, and that was the key to his success.

May Allah grant Taqvi Sahib the choicest place in Jannatul Firdaus!
