Prof. Muhammad
Saleem Sahto
joined the college in 1983 as a lecturer and is still in service at the college.
Currently, he is professor and Head of Dept of
Sindhi.
He was born on 13 July 1954 at Mehar, Dist. Dadu and
got married to Mrs. Najma on 14 December 1984. They have
three sons - Aurangzeb 2k108/Qasim, Shahzeb
2001119/Shahbaz and Ahsan 2007121/Liaquat.
Saleem Sahto is
one of eight siblings. He has six brothers and one
sister. His father moved to Karachi in 1945 and
remained there until his death in 1981. Thus, he
was brought up at Karachi and had all of his
schooling and education in that city. |

His
primary education up to Class 5 was at NJV Govt Primary
School and secondary education at NJV Govt. High School,
Karachi. He completed his Matric from there in 1971. He
then got his Intermediate certificate from D.J. Science
College, Karachi in 1974, B.A. degree from University of
Karachi in 1977 and an M.A. degree in Sindhi from
University of Karachi.
Prior
to joining Cadet College Petaro, he worked as Sindhi
Language Junior Teacher at the Education Department of
Govt of Sindh from 1976-1983.
During
his service at Petaro, he was promoted to the rank of
assistant professor in January 1996 and as Professor
in February 2007. He became the Head of the
Sindhi Department in 1996.
Sahto Sb has been the Divisional Officer (House Master)
of Shahbaz Division from 1990 to 1995,
and Divisional Officer (House Master) of
Liaquat Division from 1997
to 2000.
In
addition, between 1995-1997 he was Member Purchase
Committee, Officer In Charge of Agriculture Dept,
Caretaking Dept, Sindhi Debates, and Local School, and
also the Colony Welfare Officer. Since 1996, he has been
Officer In Charge of the Latif Day Function, Member of
Cadets' Counselling Committee, Assistant Officer In
Charge of Excursions, and Member of the Academic
Council. He was also the Patron of the
Music Club during
the 1980s.
Thrice
he has received Commendation Certificates with cash
awards for producing best results in the Board
examinations. He also received the Best Teacher Award
during 2009-2010 for overall performance.
He was
also part of the Interactive Teachers' Training Program
held at NIBAF, Islamabad in 2005 which was sponsored and
organized by the Petarian Foundation.
Sahto
Sb is also a writer. He wrote a book called "Bha
Akhar" published by British Petroleum Pakistan in
2006. He has written and published several short
stories, essays and poetry that have been published in
leading Sindhi and Urdu newspapers of Pakistan since
1974.
He is
related to Prof. R.S. Channa and his sons who were
Petarians.
