Syed Hasan Mustafa, 7133/A at Karachi
and Islamabad.
Wasi Sahib was my teacher for a brief period – in 9th
class when he taught me Civics. It was he who taught us
the concepts of government. For the first time in my
life, I was exposed to the concepts of democracy and the
“basic democracy” of Ayub Khan. His
lessons on the three arms of government - Executive,
Legislature and Judiciary - stuck into our nimble minds
along with the famous definition of democracy given by
Abraham Lincoln - "of the people, for the people and by
the people". Wasi Sahib inculcated that spirit of
democracy in us and made us realize that we must be
responsible citizens.
Wasi
Sahib was always a thorough gentleman, and a man who
upheld civic responsibility, guiding us towards becoming
good citizens. May Allah reward him for inculcating good
values amongst us Petarians.
